My name is Orla Roan (BVSc, BEqSc) and I am offering equine veterinary services to horse owners, breeders and trainers in the beautiful Tauranga and the wider Bay of Plenty. I have 12 years of experience in New Zealand, Kentucky and Australia to offer you and I look forward to meeting you and your horse to see how I can help.  

 

By way of introduction, I enrolled in an equine science degree in my homeland in Ireland which really sparked my desire to work with horses. I came to New Zealand to work in the intensive care foal unit, and then decided to enrol at Massey University as a veterinarian with a focus on horses.

 

Early in my veterinary career I was lucky enough to be accepted into an internship at a leading equine hospital, Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in Kentucky, which gave me a crash course in providing gold standard, often very intensive medical treatment to a wide variety of conditions in horses. Coming back to New Zealand, I then spent 10 years at Waikato Equine Veterinary Services which both provided me exposure to all aspects of the equine industry in New Zealand, and gave me a wide range of experience in managing almost any situation where you might need veterinary care for your horse. More recently, 2 years working in Australia solely in reproduction means I am well equipped to handle your horses's natural or artificial breeding requirements.
